How To Transport Your Cars When You Move
Have you sold your house? Are you getting ready to relocate to another state? I suppose you have everything packed and ready to start out on your trip.
If you are planning to drive a truck loaded with all your household belongings, how will you transport your car? Obviously, you can’t drive both vehicles.
Perhaps your spouse or another adult family member could drive your car. This person could follow you in the truck. It really shouldn’t make the trip take any longer or cause you to make any more rest stops than you would if you were traveling alone.
With gas prices so high, perhaps you would rather not have the added expense of having to pay for gasoline for two vehicles. There are other options that you might consider.
Most trucks or vans used for transporting furniture also have a trailer hitch on the rear. It is possible to rent a trailer to carry your car behind the truck. If the truck is large enough, and your household belongings are minimal, it might even be possible to drive your car right into the truck for the trip. You would have to check with the company you rented the truck from to make sure that their insurance would cover your doing that.
If you are having your household property transferred to your new location by a moving company, you might ask that company if they also transport automobiles. You could even drive it yourself unless you are planning to travel by plane.
However, if your new location is fairly close by, you could call a local towing company. There are companies that do auto transport on a regular basis. Make sure that you hire a reputable auto transport company that can be trusted to transport your auto safely. In case of an accident with your car, you want to know that this company is insured for any damage that might happen.
